How do we prove a ‘Qi2 certified’ claim on a listing?

Qi2 and the Qi2 logo are trademarks of the Wireless Power Consortium. Use them only for products that have passed WPC certification and appear in the WPC product database, and keep the certification evidence on file.

How do we prove a ‘Qi2 certified’ claim on a listing?
The question

A marketplace asked us to prove the ‘Qi2 certified’ claim on our wireless charger listing. What evidence do we need?

Main answer · Wecent Editorial Team

Short answer: You need evidence that the exact product model is certified by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC): typically the product’s entry in the WPC certified product database and the certification documentation from the manufacturer or authorised test lab. Qi2 and its logo are WPC trademarks, so they may be used only on certified products in line with WPC’s rules. If the product isn’t certified, remove ‘Qi2’ wording and describe it accurately.

What Qi2 certification means

Qi2 is the WPC’s wireless charging standard using the Magnetic Power Profile. Products are tested by WPC-authorised test labs and, once certified, listed in the WPC product database. Only certified products may be marketed as Qi2 and use the Qi2 logo.

Evidence to keep

  1. The WPC database entry for the exact model, including the registered model number.
  2. Certification documents or test reports from the authorised lab, provided by the manufacturer.
  3. A link between your branded model number and the certified product, if they differ.
  4. Any licensing or logo use confirmation.

Check the model link

Many certified products are registered under the factory’s model or brand. If you sell under your brand and model number, check whether the certification covers it, or ask Wecent how your model can be linked. Marketplaces may reject evidence that names a different product.

Wording for non-certified products

  • Avoid “Qi2”, “Qi2 compatible”, “Qi2-ready” or the logo.
  • Describe features accurately: “magnetic wireless charger, up to 15W on supported phones”, if tested.
  • Don’t use “MagSafe” unless the product is part of Apple’s programme.

Qi2 Ready phones versus accessories

“Qi2 Ready” is a WPC designation for phones that support Qi2 charging with a magnetic case. It isn’t a designation for chargers or power banks.

Respond to marketplace requests

Send the database entry link or screenshot, the certificate, and a short explanation linking your model. If evidence isn’t available, edit the listing promptly to avoid suspension.

Keep it current

If the product changes, certification may need updating. Check the database entry before re-ordering or relisting.

Confirm certification status with Wecent for each model you want to market as Qi2, and verify in the WPC database yourself.

Where this answer says confirm with Wecent, the detail is not published on the product page and has to come from the datasheet or the factory. General facts come from the standards bodies, regulators or device makers named in the text.

Three more perspectives

Wecent Editorial Team · Purchasing perspective

Make Qi2 certification a written requirement in the purchase order if your listing will mention Qi2.

Wecent Editorial Team · Compliance/QC perspective

Review all listing text for “Qi2” before publishing. Copywriters often add it to non-certified products.

Wecent Editorial Team · After-sales perspective

If a customer challenges the Qi2 claim, the database link answers it quickly.
