Multi-plug travel adapters, Qi2 magnetic stands and multi-device charging.
A customer left a set of keys on the charging pad and found them warm an hour later. The product had passed its certification tests and its foreign object behaviour had never been described, so nobody could say whether it …
The protocol is the conversation between the charger and the device. Most wireless charging complaints trace back to a part of that conversation rather than to a component: the device asking for a level the charger does not offer, the …
Four decisions in coil design fix the product's behaviour: the geometry, the ferrite and shielding stack, the alignment tolerance and the thermal path. Each is a mechanical decision with an electrical consequence, and each is cheaper to take before the …
Two Qi2 programmes shipped in the same quarter. One had the certification scope, the array tolerance and the device list settled before tooling; the other settled them in the week the packaging went to print, and reprinted the cartons twice. …
A brand designed a magnetic charger, printed the platform name on the box and discovered that the name belongs to someone else. The product worked; the packaging did not. The two decisions — the engineering and the branding — are …
Wireless charging efficiency is lower than wired charging, and the number quoted usually includes or excludes different things. Before comparing two products, it is worth knowing where the losses sit: coupling, alignment, the coil and shielding, the convers……
Three items decide whether a wireless charging SKU can be described accurately on a box: the profile it implements, the certification scope that covers it, and the alignment method it relies on. A product can be fully functional and still …
The two names describe magnetic alignment in wireless charging, and they are not two versions of the same product. One is a specification maintained by the wireless power industry body; the other is a platform-specific implementation. A programme that treat……
A branded Qi2 programme can open at 200 pieces per model - but only when the magnet array, the coil and the radio documentation already sit on a certified platform. Change any of the three and the programme becomes a …
Two factory visits can produce the same positive impression and two very different answers. On the first, the discussion stays in the showroom and the certificates are presented in a folder. On the second, the coil positioning fixture is on …
The defect that matters most on a wireless charger is usually created before the product reaches the end of the line. A coil placed a fraction of a millimetre off centre passes a visual inspection and fails a customer, and …
Three programme shapes, one question: how much of the product does the brand actually own? A programme that rebadges an existing ODM platform usually reaches its first shipment within a quarter. The same product developed from a blank sheet takes …
