How do we choose between a 25W Samsung-oriented charger and a generic 20W charger?
If many buyers use Samsung Galaxy phones, a 25W charger with USB PD and PPS gives them 'Super fast charging'. For iPhone-heavy or mixed audiences, a 20W PD charger covers iPhone fast charging at lower cost. A PPS-capable 25W can serve both.

Our phone charger range has a 20W USB PD charger. A retailer wants a Samsung-friendly option. Should we add a 25W PPS charger or replace the 20W?
Short answer: Look at your buyers’ phones. Samsung Galaxy phones that support 25W Super Fast Charging need USB PD with PPS to show it; a 20W charger without PPS gives them standard fast charging. iPhones fast-charge with any USB PD charger around 20W and above, so a 25W PD charger with PPS works for both groups. If the price difference is small, a single 25W PPS model can replace the 20W and simplify the range.
What Samsung users need
Samsung’s Super Fast Charging on supported Galaxy phones relies on USB PD with the Programmable Power Supply (PPS) feature. Without PPS, the phone shows standard “Fast charging”. The 25W level is common on mid-range and many flagship Galaxy phones; some flagships support 45W with a 5A cable.
What iPhone users need
iPhones fast-charge with USB PD. Apple recommends a 20W or higher USB-C power adapter for fast charging. iPhones don’t use PPS, but a PPS-capable charger still offers standard PD profiles, so iPhones charge normally.
Options
- Keep 20W only: lowest cost; fine for iPhone-heavy channels.
- Add 25W PPS: two SKUs; clear “for Samsung” positioning.
- Replace with 25W PPS: one SKU serving both; slightly higher cost per unit, simpler range.
Price and margin
Compare the unit cost of each model. If the 25W PPS model costs only a little more, replacing the 20W can raise perceived value and simplify stock. If the difference is significant and your audience is mostly iPhone, keep the 20W.
Listing clarity
For the 25W model, state “USB PD 3.0 with PPS, supports Samsung Super Fast Charging (25W) on compatible models” only if confirmed. Avoid using Samsung trademarks in ways that suggest endorsement.
Cables
25W charging works with good 3A USB-C cables. Bundling a USB-C to USB-C cable ensures Samsung users get the expected speed.
Retailer conversation
Ask the retailer for their phone mix data. Retailers often know which brands dominate their sales and can confirm demand.
What to confirm with Wecent
Ask for the PPS voltage and current ranges of the 25W model, the price difference to the 20W, and whether the 25W model’s documents cover your target markets.
Where this answer says confirm with Wecent, the detail is not published on the product page and has to come from the datasheet or the factory. General facts come from the standards bodies, regulators or device makers named in the text.
