Can we mix several charger models in one order to reach the MOQ?

Often the order total and the per-model minimum are different questions. Ask which applies to colour, logo, packaging and plug version separately.

Can we mix several charger models in one order to reach the MOQ?
The question

We want to start with a 20W, a 35W and a 65W charger, about 100 pieces of each, all in our branded packaging. Wecent lists OEM/ODM from 200 pieces. Can the three models together count toward the MOQ?

Main answer · Wecent Editorial Team

Short answer: Possibly, but ask how the MOQ is defined. A factory may set a minimum per order, per model, or per custom element such as colour, logo or box design. Mixed orders are common when the custom work is shared, for example one box design and one logo for all models. Confirm with Wecent how the 200-piece MOQ applies to your mix.

Why MOQs exist per element

Each custom element has its own set-up cost: a colour batch of plastic, a print plate or laser program for the logo, and a print run for packaging. Production lines also have changeover time between models. MOQs reflect these costs. If three models share a box design and logo, the set-up is shared too; if each has its own, costs multiply.

Ways to make a mixed order work

  • Use one packaging design with a model sticker or printed variant panel.
  • Use the same logo method and position on all models.
  • Keep stock colours (black or white) for the smaller models and custom colour only where volume justifies it.
  • Accept a small surcharge per model below its own minimum, if offered.

Questions to ask

  1. Is the 200-piece MOQ per order, per model, per colour or per packaging design?
  2. What’s the surcharge for a model below its own minimum, if any?
  3. Can packaging be printed in a larger run and stored for the next order?
  4. Are lead times different for each model, and will the order ship together?

Is a mixed first order a good idea?

It lets you test a range rather than one SKU. The trade-off is less depth per model: 100 units each gives limited data on each one. If one model is your hero, consider weighting the order toward it.

Timing

Different models can have different lead times, depending on component stock and line scheduling. Ask whether the factory ships the mix together or splits it.

Documents for each model

Each model needs its own reports, labels and declarations. A mixed order triples the document work, even if the volume is small. Budget time for that, and confirm with Wecent which models already have reports that can carry your brand.

Where this answer says confirm with Wecent, the detail is not published on the product page and has to come from the datasheet or the factory. General facts come from the standards bodies, regulators or device makers named in the text.

Three more perspectives

Wecent Editorial Team · Purchasing perspective

Ask for the quote in two versions: mixed models at 100 each, and your hero model at 200 with others at stock packaging. Seeing both often makes the decision easy.

Wecent Editorial Team · Compliance/QC perspective

In a mixed shipment, make sure each carton is labelled clearly by model and that inspection samples come from each model separately. Mixed lots can hide a problem in one small sub-lot.

Wecent Editorial Team · After-sales perspective

Three models means three sets of spares and three FAQs. Keep the support material simple by using the same cable type and similar port layouts across the mixed range where you can.
