How should we store and care for bamboo wireless chargers bought as corporate gifts?

Bamboo is a natural material that reacts to moisture and heat. Dry storage, gentle dry cleaning and keeping metal off the pad cover most of the care.

How should we store and care for bamboo wireless chargers bought as corporate gifts?
The question

We ordered bamboo-finish 3-in-1 wireless chargers (WEG-2201) as corporate gifts. They will sit in our warehouse for a few months before an event, and then on employees’ desks. How do we store them, and what care instructions should we include?

Main answer · Wecent Editorial Team

Short answer: Store them sealed, dry and away from heat, and give recipients a short care card: unplug before cleaning, wipe dry with a soft cloth, no water or solvents, keep it away from sinks and direct sun, and keep metal objects off the charging area. Ask the supplier how the bamboo is finished, because that sets what cleaning is safe.

Why bamboo needs different handling from plastic

Bamboo is a natural, hygroscopic material: it takes up and releases moisture from the air. Large or fast changes in humidity can lead to swelling, small cracks or warping at joints. Long periods of damp storage can cause mould on uncoated surfaces. A plastic shell doesn’t have these issues. The electronics inside are the same kind as in other wireless chargers.

Warehouse storage

  • Keep cartons sealed in their original packaging until distribution.
  • Store indoors, off the floor, away from outside walls, loading doors and heat sources.
  • Avoid places with strong humidity swings, such as unconditioned containers or basements. If the store is damp, ask the supplier whether desiccant packs are included or can be added.
  • Avoid stacking cartons so high that the bottom ones get crushed. Pressure on wooden parts can leave marks.

Care card for recipients

  1. Unplug the charger before cleaning.
  2. Wipe with a soft, dry or barely damp cloth; dry straight away.
  3. Don’t use water, sprays, alcohol, solvents or abrasives on the bamboo.
  4. Keep it away from sinks, plants that are watered on the desk, and direct sunlight.
  5. Remove keys, coins, cards and other metal from the charging area before charging.

The last point is about the electronics, not the wood. Metal objects between the coil and the phone can heat up, which is why wireless chargers use foreign object detection and may stop charging.

What to confirm with the supplier

Ask Wecent how the bamboo is finished (lacquer, oil or uncoated) and which cleaning products are safe for it. Also ask what storage conditions they recommend for the packed product. We have no published test data on how this model’s finish behaves over time, so check before you print any longevity claim.

Facts cited here come from the named standards bodies, regulators, Apple support documentation and Wecent product pages. Points marked “ask”, “confirm” or “check” are recommendations or open questions to settle with your supplier, not verified specifications.

Three more perspectives

Wecent Editorial Team · Purchasing perspective

Natural grain and tone vary from piece to piece. Agree with the supplier in advance on what counts as acceptable variation, ideally with reference photos or a sample set, so that normal variation isn’t rejected at inspection and real defects are.

Wecent Editorial Team · Compliance/QC perspective

For goods held in storage for a long time, open a few cartons from different pallets before the event. Check for odour, mould spots, cracks at joints and loose logo prints, and run a charging check with a phone. Catching a storage problem a week before the event leaves time to act.

Wecent Editorial Team · After-sales perspective

Engraved or laser-marked logos can’t be repaired. Decide in advance how you will handle a gift that arrives cracked or marked, for example a replacement from your reserve stock. Then keep a few extra units back from the distribution.
